President Ross' Monthly Message

From The President

(July/August, 2010):

Your Board of Directors has had a very busy and engaging summer. From the new board members taking office on July 1st, there has been a flurry of activity.

In July, the board met for our annual retreat to participate in efforts to communicate better among not only ourselves, but also the congregation and staff as a whole; review the needs of the congregation; and develop strategies for the future.

As we go forward, you will see more events organized to focus on one of our key objectives, “Energize the Core.” I hope you will be motivated to get involved with the myriad of opportunities that not only will benefit the congregation, but offer you personal rewards as well.

The board passed several motions including limiting the opportunity to become a B’nei Mitzvah on our campus to our members only, modifying our dues structure and K-2 tuition to encourage new members to JOIN our congregation, and clarifying how Building Fund donations will be spent.

We are also actively engaged in creating a sacred space on our campus. The current plan includes doubling the space of one of our classroom buildings to house weekly services, B’nei Mitzvah services, weddings, and other events.

Once completed, we will be able to have virtually all of our religious and secular events on campus, with the exception of High Holy Day services, and will use our campus in this capacity until we achieve our eventual goal of a building a sanctuary.

   L’ Shalom
