Religious School News and Calendar
From The Desk Of The Education Director ...
The Education Committee, and the entire religious
school, would love to see all congregants at the Friday
Shabbat service on January 27th, 6:30 p.m. We
will have an exciting program to honor our fabulous
group of religious school teachers and aides. It is so
important to show our appreciation for all they do
for our religious school students. Please come give them a big hand as we thank
them for being such incredible teachers and assets to Or Chadash.

V-8 Juice Drive for Homer Davis School
Thanks to all parents and congregants for your generous donations. During November, the Or Chadash
Religious School partnered with Federation’s Jewish Committee Relations Council to collect
712 cans (3,916 ounces) of V-8 Juice for Homer Davis students!

Upcoming School Activities
Religious School News: Tzedakah Fair
On the last day of our Religious
School, our students, Kindergarten
through Seventh grade, participated in
a Tzedakah Fair (formally known as
Mitzvah Mall), run by our Sixth Grade
students and led by Lauren Bloch.
The students researched information
and invited representatives from various
organizations in our area. Once
they gathered all the necessary information,
the students presented the
information to the rest of our Religious
School in a fun and unique way.
Taking turns, our students “shopped”
and donated to their choices of organizations,
receiving certificates listing
their donations which students
personalized by honoring someone special to them.
This year, our students raised a total of $170.00 to be divided among the
Jewish Federation, Jewish Family and Children Services, Hillel (at the U of
A), and Congregation Or Chadash’s ABT Scholarship and Special Needs
fund.
We are proud of our students and their families for participating in this
important event that raises our students’ awareness of the many organizations
working to ensure the future of our Jewish community. Even in times
like these when donations are hard to come by, our students and families
continue to show their support.

Thursday, February 23rd-Sunday, the 26th – No Religious
School for Rodeo Break.

“We Need YOU!”
The members of the Or Chadash Religious
School Education Committee need YOU!
We know you are busy; you’re hesitant to
take on even one more thing. We are too!
However, we all are committed to see that
Or Chadash provides its families and children
with an outstanding educational experience.
And, we need YOU to make that
happen.
We need YOU to join the Education
Committee! Here is what you need to know:
1. The time commitment is not very big.
We meet approximately once a
month from August through May
during the evening for no more than
90 minutes.
We each take on one or two small
tasks during the year such as
recruiting room parents, working at
open house, helping with teacher
appreciation, etc.
2. We make a difference!
We discuss and give input to the
Board of Directors on everything
from curriculum to policies and
budget.
We directly support Rina and our
teachers and aides so they can give
students their best.

Religious School is still looking for parent volunteers to help monitor and secure the Or Chadash property during Religious School. You can help donate to our Religious and Hebrew School by shopping at Safeway with your club cards. Look for a yellow school bus over participating products in Safeway stores. Ten percent of your purchase price can support our school until September 9th when using your club card. Be sure our school has either your receipt or club card number by October 13th in order to receive your donation.
