Cantor's Notes

   It’s the New Year again, and things are musically exciting at Congregation Or Chadash! Here’s a “Head’s Up” about new programs for you this year.

   Or Chadash Concert Series – A three-concert series here on our property. The first concert will be Music under the Stars, Sunday, October 23rd, 5:30 p.m., on our patio under the beautiful autumn sky. We’ll have a gourmet picnic dinner and a wonderful concert featuring Cantor Ilan Davidson of Temple Beth El and yours truly. We performed this in San Pedro California last month to rave reviews. Watch for more information in The New Light this Spring.

   Torah Chanting for Adults – Participants will learn the ancient art of Cantillation – Torah Chanting – and be invited to prepare and chant Torah portions for Shabbat and Festival services throughout the year. Also, Beginning Hebrew Class will be Tuesday evenings; Intermediate Hebrew, Sunday mornings. Religious School Band and Jr. Choir –Religious School students will meet weekly with me to prepare music for special services and Religious School programs.

   Celebrating Rabbi Louchheim – Preparations are under way for the celebration of a lifetime! Our Rabbi will be celebrating 25 years in the Rabbinate and receiving his Doctor of Divinity from Hebrew Union College. Brought to you by the “Affair to Remember” organization, this will be a weekend-long extravaganza you won’t want to miss!
